Aesthesis will make 100 pairs of its new $90,000-per-set
Gramophone speakers (
www.aesthesis.se), which the hi-fi manufacturer spent four years developing. The approximately 4-foot-tall loudspeakers recall gramophone horns and have high-gloss finishes of stainless steel and carbon fiber. Each horn’s coaxial driver pushes bass tones down through a tapered open cabinet and out a narrow port at the base of the enclosure. This process—and the speakers’ shape, which is conducive to sound projection—helps to ensure succinct yet widely distributed reproduction from all frequency ranges.
